Artist and composer, Valérie Vivancos aka Ocean Viva Silver sailed the Anglo-Saxon artistic and musical undercurrents for 11 years before settling in Paris. Her drifts have led her to the ports of Sète, Liverpool, Lisbon, Copenhagen, San Francisco, New York, Rio, Waterford and Hong Kong as prime locations for drifting and performing. For the last 20 years, her artistic universe has revolved around the corporality of sound and the various states of the "sounding body" ("corps sonore" in the literal and schefferian sense of the word). Her work is mainly focused on composition, performance scores, situations and writing protocols that interweave life and fiction and collect 'curious' experiences.

Valérie Vivancos has a BA in Fine Arts from the Chelsea School of Art (London) and an MA in English Studies from the Sorbonne University (Paris). She also studied Art at SFAI (San Francisco) and Audiovisual design at the Arndale Centre (Manchester).

She has run sound/art workshops in Brazil, invited people to sleep in an underground bunker, performed spatialised music in a Planetarium, on a boat on the Danube, created sounds for the answering machines or cctvs, created participatory performances with a certified hypnologist, been commissioned for electroacoustic, acousmatic and radio art pieces.

Her work has been featured in international art centers (Palais de Tokyo, Gaîté Lyrique, Leroy Neiman Gallery, Overgaden gallery, ICA, Mudam, JCCAC, FRAC Lorraine) ; music venues and festivals (Présences Electronique, 104, Présences Acoustique, Radio France, Poitiers Planétarium, Futura, The Dark Outside, Nuit Blanche, Bivouac Radiophonique, Sonic Dreams) as well as radios (France Culture, France Musique, Rte Lyric, Phaune, Radia Network, Kunstradio, Resonnance FM, Jet FM, Panik). She is co-founder of projects focused on sound and art including the duo OttoannA and the Double Entendre editions (With Rodolphe Alexis) and regularly collaborates with other artists ( including Virgile Novarina, Cyril Lepetit, DinahBird, Yoko Fukushima, Max Kuiper, Carl Stone, DinahBird and Marie Lisel). Based in Paris, she also works independently for art and sound research organisations including the GRM, the Collectif MU and various experimental music labels.

Since 1993 she has been writing and translating literary, poetic and theoretical texts and notably contributed to the translation of Schaeffer's Treatise on Musical Objects.

In 2016, a re-composition of her Sleep in Opera (2002-2016) was released on the Swedish label Sublunar Society.

Artiste et compositrice oeuvrant parfois sous le pseudonyme Ocean Viva Silver, Valérie Vivancos est allée chercher son enseignement du côté de la Grande-Bretagne et des Etats-Unis, à une époque où l'art sonore connaissait une (re)naissance. Elle sillonne durant 11 ans les méandres artistiques et musicaux anglo-saxons. Ses périples la mènent jusqu'aux ports de Sète, Liverpool, Lisbonne, Coppenhague, San Francisco, New York, t Rio, Waterford et Hong Kong, entre autres points de dérive et de performance. Son travail consiste à imaginer des protocoles de composition, de création et d’écriture entremêlant vie et fiction et à collectionner les expériences « curieuses ». Le corps, l'abandon de ce corps dans le sommeil (par exemple), la question du protocole ou du dispositif : voilà quelques éléments de son monde artistique.

Diplômée de la Chelsea School of Art, San Francisco Art Institute (Beaux Arts) et de la Sorbonne (Etudes anglophones). Son travail se montre et s'entend dans des centres d'arts (Palais de Tokyo, Gaîté Lyrique, Leroy Neiman Gallery, Overgaden gallery, ICA, Mudam) comme dans des festivals et salles de concert (Présences Electronique au 104, Présences Acoustique à Radio France, Planétarium de Poitiers, Futura, The Dark Outside, La Nuit Blanche) et à la radio (France Culture, France Musique, Rte Lyric, Phaune, Radia Network, Kunstradio, Resonnance FM, Jet FM, Panik...). Cofondatrice de projets liés à la création sonore dont le duo OttoannA et des éditions Double Entendre (avec Rodolphe Alexis), elle collabore avec d'autres artistes pluridisciplinaires (Virgile Novarina, Cyril Lepetit, DinahBird, Yoko Fukushima, Max Kuiper, Carl Stone). Elle œuvre régulièrement pour des structures d'expérimentation musicale comme le GRM ou le collectif MU. Elle écrit et traduit également des textes littéraires, poétiques et théoriques en français et en anglais.

En 2016, une re-composition de son Opéra du Sommeil de 2002 est sorti sur le label suedois Sublunar Society.
